The £8,000 email

The £8,000 email

If I told you that you could generate £8,000 with a single email, I reckon you’d take extra care over it. You certainly wouldn’t dash it out and hope for the best. It would need to be perfect.

I sent such an email. It was to The Mirror, and it secured a piece of online coverage worth £8,000 (that’s what it costs if you pay for the space), and as you can imagine, the client was delighted.

Buying editorial space is expensive. If you remember, I told you that I placed a client in The Telegraph the other week. That also happened off the back of a single email. The client received four links. ClickIntelligence sells a package of 5 PR links for £3,150, which is for publications with much smaller circulations.

The Telegraph client was a podcast, and this week it had more listeners than ever and entered the Apple well-being charts. I’ll be upfront – they paid me £3,000 for a month of done-for-you PR and have come away with a piece in the Telegraph, pieces in The Mirror, Express, Daily Star and 20 local papers, plus two pieces in Podcasting Today.
